Berry World

I'm a senior business woman constantly learning and striving to improve and increase our exposure to tourism and locals alike. Originally from Western Australia, I love living and working in Timboon.

Gascom (AU) Pty Ltd

Berry World has existed as a commercial and 'pick your own' strawberry and blackberry farm for 58 years. We purchased it from original owners, Joy and Alan Kerr in 2014. During our tenure we have added the Berry Good Thai restaurant (run by 2 Thai national chefs & 1 Thai cook) and Berry Good Accommodation for holiday makers. In addition, we have 2 ponies, 3 pet sheep and some chickens. Kids (and parents) love to feed the animals as well as run, play and pick strawberries. We also grow veges for the restaurant and have added an orchard of apples, nashis, pears, cherries and raspberries.

Distinguished and Famous people from The Bundaberg Coast

✈️ Bert Hinkler

Long before his famous solo flights, Bundaberg-born Bert Hinkler was testing hand-built gliders at Mon Repos Beach. By nineteen he had successfully flown these early machines. Mon Repos was the testing ground for the experimental beginnings of his aviation story. Hinkler later became an internationally recognised aviator, but his early work here was a much more improvised affair: a young enthusiast designing, building and trying out aircraft near home.

🔬 Dr Col Limpus

Marine turtle researcher Col Limpus devoted decades to understanding the turtles nesting at Mon Repos. His work followed their breeding, survival and movements, helping turn observations on a Bundaberg beach into knowledge used in conservation. When he retired in 2024, aged 84, his association with turtle research stretched back roughly sixty years. His story shows another kind of coastal distinction: patient scientific work, conducted over many nesting seasons, that helped people understand how much of a turtle's life happens beyond the beach where it lays its eggs.
